Introducing our Minnesota Wild Hybred

With our love for Brahmas, colorful eggs, and cold Minnesota Winters, we are in an ongoing process of developing a very hardy Minnesota and cold weather hybrid. If you are a backyard chicken enthusiast that is looking for a great starter chicken, these are some tough chicks.

The Minnesota Wild Hybrid has some amazing attributes for first-time chicken owners as well as cold weather climates. What can you expect:

*Easy chick brooding.

*A robust medium to large chicken.

*Medium-large to large eggs, robust production.

*Variations of green, olive, and brown eggs.

*Pea and/or tight combs.

*Fluffy cheeks and beards.

*Feathered legs and feet.

* Dual-purpose chicken.

*Great foragers and friendly temperament.

*A mix of colors and color genetics with wild earthy type tones. Roos tend to be similar to blue partridge brahma, Isabel, black, blue, and loud splash. Base genetics include partridge variations, lavender, and blue. Current roosters are Isabel Brahma and Blue Partridge MN Wild.

Primary focus: We are in the 3rd year of development and will be continuing to develop this hybrid.  We began with a large European style Isabel Brahma Roo (breeder purchased), and a group of 3 Americana Hens, and one jersey giant which were actually just hatchery stock, but great egg layers. We found some breeds can struggle with frozen combs in the winter and the americanas tend to run on the "lean" side, but our Brahmas seldom have comb issue with a tight pea comb and are quite hardy. The Brahmas lay a nice amount of large eggs well into fall and winter, but not quite the volume level of straight layer breeds. We did not initially expect to get such consistent chicks from these 5 birds and a random cross, but the results were quite surprising. The combination of soft olive, green, and rich brown eggs are also a delightful benefit collecting eggs!  We have since added a couple other high-quality breeders to maintain and expand a colorful variation of eggs.

These chicks have been the toughest, easiest chicks to brood of all our stock. We have little to no weak chicks, and you seldom see a MN Wild chick get run over by any other chicken. With medium to large size and a little more "agility" than the Brahma, they are just plain tough!

  • Farm Visits

FOR BIOSECURITY REASONS: We do allow a limited number of farm visits with purchase only.  This is by appointment ONLY as we have biosecurity measures in place that must be adhered to prior to entering our farm. This is due to the dangers that it could cause to our birds. Our birds and breeding lines are our priority In hopes that we can keep our birds healthy and provide you with the quality that you expect as well as continue to improve future quality of poultry available in breeding programs!

  • Egg Shipments

We offer eggs from different breeds, with some breeds that are difficult to find in the United States. We mail eggs to you so you can watch them hatch in your own incubator.

We sell eggs in quantities of 6 and 12 depending on availability.  We do not start selling hatching eggs until after chick orders are filled.

    • NOTE:  We will begin shipping hatching eggs in May, if  they are available before, will notify you.  NOTE: Chicks Orders will be filled before any eggs orders.

    • With Eggs  orders please add a note with your phone number as well.

    • Purchase of one item includes 6+ eggs.  If you are ordering a dozen you would select 2 items.

WE CAN NOT GUARENTEE  HATCH RATES! WE DO NOT REPLACE HATCHING EGGS DUE TO LOW OR NO HATCH RATES,

We consider evaluate every egg we collect and are very careful in packaging our eggs. They are all packed in multiple layers of soft foam, to make sure they arrive in good conditions.  We cannot control how they are handled once they leave our hands, but our local USPS office is very aware of the pride we have in our eggs and chicks. We mark every box clearly, FRAGILE, and ask that they not be x-rayed by usps. Rough handling, extreme hot/cold, incubation practices, etc. all effect hatch rate. By purchasing hatching eggs, you agree you have read and understand this policy.

We do recommend that you let your eggs settle for 12 hours prior to settle prior to placing them in your incubator.  Our eggs are not washed, but they are sprayed with a disinfecting solution as this is proven by research to increase hatch rates.  Eggs which have NOT been disinfected can carry bacteria that affects hatch rates.
