RARE CHOCOLATE BRAHMA - COLOR PROJECT
Introducing our CHOCOLATE and BLACK Brahma!
Brahmas are known for their gentle and docile temperament but have not traditionally come in chocolate or black.
We started this PROJECT and it is far from complete! That said, it is two years in and if you are looking to work on a started project, we are offering a few chicks for a very limited time. Our first cross produced gorgeous birds and although we could completely finish our line prior to offering a full brahma, we feel it better serves the breed to allow other breeders a jump start in working on their own lines.
*******These chicks are F2 project birds. What does this mean? Your chicks will be 1/2 brahma and to get standard of perfection typed brahma will take further years of studying and crosses back to pure brahma. We ask that you understand these are NOT pure brahma and that you do NOT promote your resulting futre hatches as pure brahma... they are NOT and although striking birds, breeders will know they are not, and if you choose to sell as such to knowing customers, it will not take long for a breeder to let them know, their bird is NOT a pure brahma. Our mission is to create beautiful and rare colored birds. We are excited for the day we can offer this as a brahma that meets full SOP description in type and by buying these chicks you are agreeing to the same if used for breeding and offering birds to others.
This line currently has the typical stunning appearance and calm demeanor of the brahma. Some DIFFERENCES and areas that need work to meet the SOP breed description.
Leg color is - should be yellow rather than white/pink base.
Leg Feathering - Increased leg feathering is needed.
Combs - They have been pea combs, but reduced size is needed. Should single combs pop up in the future, they should be removed from breeding.
Whats going well:
Egg production F1 have been llaying a good amount of large cream colored eggs. Eggs have been consistently large.
Size - All stock have been very robust and heavy. Roosters have been tall, broad and large chested.
Color - Chocolate is a sex linked color. First generation with a chocolate rooster will produce all chocolate hens and black base roosters split to chocolate. The chicks being offered are second generation so it will take test breeding to determine what genetics your chicks that are not visually chocolate have. Chicks that are not visually chocolate may be black, black split to chocolate, black split to lavender, black split to lavender and chocolate, lavender, lavender split to chocolate. The black roosters from the F1 stock have had a gorgeous green sheen!
If your looking to add large, beautiful, stunning, and rare to your farmstead or take a chocolate or black project down a line of your own, these chicks may save you some start up time.
Farm Visits
FOR BIOSECURITY REASONS: We do allow a limited number of farm visits with purchase only. This is by appointment ONLY as we have biosecurity measures in place that must be adhered to prior to entering our farm. This is due to the dangers that it could cause to our birds. Our birds and breeding lines are our priority In hopes that we can keep our birds healthy and provide you with the quality that you expect as well as continue to improve future quality of poultry available in breeding programs!

With Eggs orders please add a note with your phone number as well.
-
Purchase of one item includes 6+ eggs. If you are ordering a dozen you would select 2 items.
WE CAN NOT GUARENTEE HATCH RATES! WE DO NOT REPLACE HATCHING EGGS DUE TO LOW OR NO HATCH RATES,
We consider evaluate every egg we collect and are very careful in packaging our eggs. They are all packed in multiple layers of soft foam, to make sure they arrive in good conditions. We cannot control how they are handled once they leave our hands, but our local USPS office is very aware of the pride we have in our eggs and chicks. We mark every box clearly, FRAGILE, and ask that they not be x-rayed by usps. Rough handling, extreme hot/cold, incubation practices, etc. all effect hatch rate. By purchasing hatching eggs, you agree you have read and understand this policy.
We do recommend that you let your eggs settle for 12 hours prior to settle prior to placing them in your incubator. Our eggs are not washed, but they are lightly sprayed with a natural disinfecting solution as this is proven by research to increase hatch rates. Eggs which have NOT been disinfected can carry bacteria that affects hatch rates.
